Dembe FM

The radio station employs 25 people and transmits to Greater Kampala and the central region. The station is positioned in the relatively affluent, urban, educated C1/C2 Luganda speaking market. The station is aggressively being used as an advertising medium for other companies in the group including CMF.

The radio industry in Uganda is characterised by increasing competition with the proliferation of new players focusing on specific market segments. In April 2006, Christine Mawadri, a pioneer in Uganda’s radio industry, was brought on as Station Manager. Dembe FM has taken a strategic decision to work itself back into the Top  FM radio stations in Uganda consolidating its niche in the middle aged Luganda speaking market. With the appointment of Christine Mawadri, the focus has been geared towards creating a sound that is mindful of the urban exposed Luganda speaking listeners whose dialogue is mainly Luganda with a mixture of English.
