CMF is a non-banking financial institution regulated by the BoU. CMF was launched in 1999 to address the underserved economically active low end of the market. It is both a deposit taking and lending institution, with 8 branches and employing over 120 people. Total asset value as per the balance sheet as at end 2004 stands at Ush11.3bn/-. Return in equity was 31% for 2004.

In 2003, Mr Bitature was appointed chairman and simultaneously initiated a recapitalisation of the bank and as such became a major shareholder. The bank has since enjoyed a period of rapid and sustainable growth. Several new branches were opened and the bank is poised for further growth.

n mid 2006, the bank rolled out ATM services. This shall provide 24 hour banking services to customers. Currently there are three ATMs and the expansion is on going.
